Living with Breathlessness and Heart Failure Symptoms?

You might qualify for our Heart Failure Research Study

Heart failure affects millions of adults in the United States, causing debilitating breathlessness, fatigue, and a dramatically reduced quality of life. Despite existing treatments, many patients with a specific form of heart failure combined with high lung blood pressure have no approved targeted therapy available to them.

At Hightower Clinical, we are currently conducting a congestive heart failure clinical trial to assess the safety and effectiveness of an investigational treatment designed for adults living with heart failure and elevated pulmonary blood pressure.

Participation in the clinical trial is completely free of charge and entirely voluntary.

To participate, fill out the form, and a member of our research team will contact you to determine your eligibility for the study.

About Our Heart Failure Treatment Research

Hightower Clinical is conducting research studies for heart failure patients with a condition known as pulmonary hypertension due to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. The study intends to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational biologic injection for individuals whose heart has become too stiff to relax properly between beats, causing dangerous pressure to build up in the lungs.

This heart failure research study aims to assess whether the investigational treatment can effectively reduce lung blood pressure, improve exercise capacity, and lower the risk of further heart complications.

Participants will be randomly divided into three groups: two groups will receive the investigational treatment at different doses, while the third will receive a placebo.

All study procedures and treatments, including the investigational drug, are provided at no cost, and insurance is not required to participate.

The study doctor will guide you through every step of the clinical trial, answering any questions you may have about the study treatment before you make your decision to participate.

Congestive Heart Failure Clinical Trial: What to Anticipate

Upon agreeing to participate in the study, you will be asked to sign an Informed Consent Form that provides comprehensive details about this heart failure treatment research study. Our research team will also guide you through the study process and explain your role in the trial. We strongly encourage participants to ask any questions they may have before deciding to participate or withdraw from the trial.

Once the consent form is signed and all questions are addressed, participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: the Control group or one of two Experimental groups.

In the Control group, participants will receive a placebo injection without active ingredients, while those in the Experimental groups will receive the actual investigational treatment at varying doses every two weeks. This study is double-blind, meaning neither the researcher nor the participant knows which treatment is being administered.

Study-related care is provided free of charge. Expert physicians and healthcare professionals will perform thorough physical exams and assessments throughout the trial.

What Happens with Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension?

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction occurs when the heart muscle becomes too stiff to relax properly between beats. Although the heart still pumps normally, the stiffness causes pressure to back up into the lungs, leading to a dangerous condition called pulmonary hypertension. Over time, this elevated lung pressure strains the right side of the heart, progressively worsening the patient’s ability to breathe and function in daily life.

Complications

If left untreated, heart failure combined with pulmonary hypertension can lead to severe and life-threatening consequences, including:

  • Right-Sided Heart Failure: The right side of the heart becomes overworked from pumping against high lung pressure, eventually leading to failure.
  • Severe Exercise Intolerance: Patients become increasingly unable to perform even basic daily activities without breathlessness and exhaustion.
  • Fluid Retention: Pressure buildup causes fluid to accumulate in the legs, abdomen, and lungs, causing painful swelling.
  • Organ Damage: Reduced blood flow and oxygen delivery can impair the function of the kidneys, liver, and other vital organs.
  • Sudden Cardiac Events: The combination of heart failure and high lung pressure significantly raises the risk of life-threatening cardiac episodes.

Symptoms

Common symptoms of heart failure with pulmonary hypertension include:

  • Shortness of breath during everyday activities or even at rest
  • Persistent fatigue and weakness that does not improve with rest
  • Swelling in the legs, ankles, or feet due to fluid buildup
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat, especially during physical activity
  • Persistent dry cough or wheezing
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness when standing or exerting effort
  • Difficulty lying flat due to breathlessness at night
  • Reduced ability to exercise or walk without becoming severely winded

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a congestive heart failure clinical trial?

A congestive heart failure clinical trial is a research study testing whether an investigational treatment is safe and effective for heart failure patients. Participants receive close medical monitoring and access to potentially new therapies, all at absolutely no cost.

What happens during our Heart Failure Treatment Research study?

After screening and consent, participants are assigned to receive either the investigational biologic injection or a placebo every two weeks. Regular follow-up visits monitor lung pressure, heart function, and overall health. All visits, tests, and study-related care are completely free throughout the trial.

Why participate in our Research Studies for Heart Failure Patients?

Participating gives you access to potentially groundbreaking treatment and close medical monitoring at no cost. Your involvement directly contributes to advancing heart failure treatment research for a condition that currently has no approved targeted therapy, offering hope to millions of patients worldwide.
